If you don't have health insurance, you need to ask yourself why. If you're like many who simply can't afford to pay the high costs of health insurance, it's important for you to know that there are programs you can utilize that will help you get the coverage you need for your medical needs. If you've simply decided that health insurance just isn't for you, it's time to sit down with an insurance representative. In most cases, you can't afford to be without insurance.

1. You're Not Invincible

If you've been avoiding health insurance because you never get hurt, it's important for you to know that you're not invincible. Not only that, but there's no guarantee that you might not stay injury-free forever. All it will take is one serious injury to leave you looking at some sky-high medical bills, including services such as physical therapy or chiropractic care for your recovery.

If you're not aware of the current laws, you might not realize that failing to have health insurance can get you into some serious trouble. In fact, if you don't have health insurance, you may end up paying fines when it comes time to file your income taxes. Those fines aren't a one-time thing either. If you've been having a good run of luck avoiding those minor illnesses that go around, you might be about to run out of luck. Unless you have a perfect immune system, the chances are good that you're going to get your fair share of colds and the flu. It's just a matter of time before you need to visit your personal physician or the urgent care center. Not to mention the fact that you could end up facing catastrophic illnesses, such as appendicitis, which will require surgery.

If you don't have health insurance, now's the time to talk to an insurance agent. You never know when something is going to happen that will require medical care. You want to make sure that you have the coverage you need to ensure you receive the proper care, without breaking your bank.
